Le Colonial, an upscale restaurant that serves the traditional cuisine of French-Indochina, is situated in the Gold Coast Restaurant District in a vintage row house. The restaurant has not only a main dining room, but also a café, bar, lounge and terrace on the second floor that overlooks the energetic Rush Street. Le Colonial brings back the perhaps overlooked beauty of French-Vietnamese cuisine, as it serves up a variety of dishes that are packed with flavors uniting the two cultures. The décor sets out to recreate Southeast Asia from the 1920s, and certainly does so with wooden framed shutters, potted plants and vases filled with flowers on the tables, which reinforce the sense of freshness and vibrancy found in Le Colonial's food. The dishes are prepared with the preservation of French-Vietnamese culture in mind and represent it with signature dishes like the Ca Chien Saigon, a seared red snapper with a spicy-sour sauce.
