D.O.C. Wine Bar on N. Clark Street offers a promising selection of wines, which may be ordered by the glass, bottle or expertly organized into flights. D.O.C. stands for Denominazione di Origine Controllata, or, Controlled Denomination of Origin, which is essentially Italy's set of guidelines for each wine, from geographic area of production to specifications for aging. However, D.O.C Wine Bar is not as intimidating as it sounds. The inviting leather couches and fireplace in the bar area cut the seriousness of the art of drinking wine and turn it into more of a social event during which there is always room to learn. The servers are engaged and informed, making the experience accessible and enjoyable. On Sundays, the wine bar offers $10 wine flights, which are nicely complimented by their charcuterie plates.
