The Rookery Building
209 S LaSalle St
Chicago IL 60604
312-553-6100
The Rookery is situated on LaSalle Street in Chicago's downtown Financial District as one of the most historically significant buildings in the city. Designed by renowned architect partners Daniel Burnham and John Root, the Rookery was completed in 1888. In 1905, Frank Lloyd Wright redesigned the two-story lobby's light court. That structure along with the iron oriel staircase winding for ten floors capture the brilliance and prestige that the Rookery hoped to convey from the beginning. This icon of the Financial District is known for its combination of old and new architectural styles, adjoining a brick entrance and intricate ornamentation with metal framing and plate glass.
