Mount Bonnell has been a popular tourist destination since 1850 because it offers the best view of Austin. 775 feet high, Mount Bonnell features a pavilion at the end of the hiking trail that looks into the Texas Hill Country, downtown Austin and Lake Austin. The hike up is not difficult and can even be leisurely, what with the trail being only one third of a mile long. Take a picnic lunch up to the top, or enjoy a great view of the sunset.
