What you can do: The drive from Vancouver to Whistler, Sea to Sky Highway, should not be rushed. You will want to enjoy the views and stops along the way. The trip to Whistler is normally about 90 minutes. We suggest you plan to arrive around noon. Howe Sound is the waterway on your left for the first two-thirds of the drive. You will pass Horseshoe Bay ferry landing, a ferry service to Vancouver Island, Bowen Island and Langdale. Further along the way, you will pass Lions Bay, Furry Creek and Britannia Beach before the town of Squamish. Near Squamish, look for Shannon Falls and the rock climbers dream, Stawamus Chief, a sheer rock face, facing Squamish. From Squamish you head inland where you complete the last 35 miles (58 km), about 50 minutes, through the Coastal Mountains to Whistler.

Once in Whistler, you will want to walk through Whistler Lower Village. The main Olympic venue is at the lower end of the lower village. Here you will find shops, restaurants, galleries and sportswear along with plenty of Whistler and Vancouver 2010 Olympic gear.  It is also a pleasant stroll across the river to the Upper Village, on the Blackcomb Mountain side. In the Upper Village are other shops, restaurants and hotels, each with their own charm. Everyone visiting Whistler should plan to ride the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola. The skiing in the winter is some of the best in North America. Whistler is a hiking and biking paradise in the summer and fall.
