Established in 1894, the Family History Library is the largest library of genealogical records in the world. Thousands upon thousands of historical films, books, maps and documents are at visitors' disposal, and hundreds of volunteers and professional research consultants help to instruct as well as to navigate the massive and otherwise overwhelming facility. If it will be your first time at the Family History Library, be sure to inform the staff, as they will present you with a short introduction and an orientation video. Complimentary tours of the Library are offered should you visit only briefly, but if you wish to take advantage of its extensive record-keeping, it is advised to bring in as much relevant information as you can about the people you wish to research.
